Bosch or NGK Spark Plugs? Chime in with your opinion.

My 93 911 has twin plug heads and uses a 3 electrode spark plug. Which is the better plug, the Bosch FR5DTC or the NGK BCPR7ET. I've used both. Any other good alternatives as well? Thanks Bill

NGK's way superior. Bosch seems to suffer from quality control problems in my experience.

NGK. I use them in everything. I have always had the best performance in Porsches with them. Ed

NGK. When I owned a Honda years ago they were original equipment for that car, install and removal always seemed easier than other plugs. When I got the 911, I stuck with 'em.

Moneymanager, Can you be more specific with regard to "quality control problems..." Do you mean they foul easier/sooner, they are not made correctly, the materials are not adequate, or the variation from plug to plug is excessive? Personally, I like the platinum Bosch for my 964 turbo. If NGK made a platinum plug, I might try it. I used NGK BP7ES plugs in my racing motorcycles and thet worked great. Mark

I am a huge NGK fan. Back when I had a 65 MGB, the only plug that would run correctly in the crummy air fuel mixture presented was NGK. Since then, they have been my go-to. Cheap. Effective. Don't look elsewhere. Just bought some from Wayne last week! Just my opinion. Larry

Run ngk in my viggen, would not run anything else; run bosch in the porsche as the stated ngk plug for my car would foul. Just put a hotter ngk in porsche in hopes that this will fix until I install the right cams for the pump that I have.

the most important thing to remember is stick with one of the two, versus any other brand. they are essentially the same. I have never heard of any quality control problems with Bosch, FWIW>
