Wrong oil filter twice? How hard can it be??
I am trying to buy the correct oil filter for my car. I have a 1970 2.2. I ordered the filter, got it here, and the hole to thread on to the nipple is much smaller than the oil tank...
I emailed Pelican tech support, and they just responded by telling me to order a certain part number. However, this is the same oil filter I already have... :confused: I have 901-107-203-09-M67... it is just too small... Was there an "upgrade", or is there a part missing from my oil tank, or?? Thanks so much for once again teaching me how much fun these old cars are to put back on the road!! :rolleyes: :D Appreciate it guys, Bill |

No filter. Tank came in the back seat of this roller I bought. Put the engine from my 70 in to this 71... :(

Just a brain fart, but why not go to the local Parts Supply and get different year filters and do a process of elimination. As long as there are not used you can return them but you will know for certain which year filter you need.

Yeah, I figured I could track it down. I just though that maybe there was one of those veterans that would say "oh, in July of 70, they used a special...". Etc. :) wanted to be sure it wasn't a hidden secret! Lol.

Are you sure it's even an oil tank from anywhere near that particular vintage?
Or is the 71' that tank with the cap on the outside of the car and it'd be pretty easy to tell I guess? |

Soooo, I found an oil filter that fit!! I asked for a filter for a 1974 911. Bigger hole to thread, and it screwed right on. Is this a common "update"??

No, it's not a common update but at some time the guy who had the car previously picked up a later tank to replace an original rusty one. I would imagine it also has a slip on fitting at the bottom for the "S" hose which goes from the oil cooler to the tank. If so, you may have to make up or modify an oil line if using the original oil cooler on the engine. For reference, the oil filter number you will need in the future is 930 107 764 00 or Mahle OC54.

It has the threaded fittings. I wonder if just the actual part where the filter threads on was changed?? Thanks Don for the heads up!
