Major clutch issue solved! Installer Error (I think)

Around three years ago I replaced my clutch cable and I think I did so incorrectly. I am still a little confused because my mechanic says it is NOW incorrect but atlas my clutch feels AWESOME.

When I originally installed the clutch cable I routed the cable as shown in green in the picture.

Here are a few tips I gathered when I reinstalled the cable.

1. When you are trying to attach the cable eye onto the hook and you find yourself short of cable tie a small rope around the clutch pedal and pull it UP so it is not pressed down then use a hook type tool and pull the cable back in the direction of the helper spring (I gained 1.5 inches of needed cable)

2. If you are reconnecting the cable to the pedal assembly I found it better to remove the bolt on the clutch pedal to allow better access

3. The helper spring seems to get a little crap packed if you remove the assembly and wedge the spring on a piece of wood you can open the spring and pack it full of white lithium grease.

Please feel free to comment on how the cable is now installed- I need feedback!SmileWavy

That cable is not in the correct place, it should be were you used to have it, that is up and over the throttle linkage.

The picture is from a pelican parts tech article-

Are you certain?

It is possible that repacking the helper spring fixed it :)

Thanks Mike
