crazy idea #432
I'm kind a busy gathering parts to build my next Porsche, something based on Henry Supertec's 2.8SS.
930/02 + 66 mil crank, and a semi-hot cam Not sure what kind of intake/injection i'll go for. I looooove MFI, i'll repeat that, I looooooove MFI. But it's not very flexible, plus i'm an IT geek, so the idea that i could hook up my laptop to my car, and muck about with it's settings sounds like fun. So i could get some Jenvey's, or get a 3.2 intake and work with that. But what about the 993 Vario Ram ?!! I know the manifold is different, but the intake plumbing is connected with rubber ducting and clamps, what if i could get the part that bolts onto the head, made.. (Assuming i could score a 993 manifold on the cheap side) ![]() Would it be worth the hassle? Is there "added value" for a short stroke , higher revving 2.8? Would the 993 intake be of to big a diameter for optimum volumetric efficiency on a 2.8 shortstroke? Would the restriction of the head , kill every advantage? Or is it indeed a crazy idea?

PMO makes an EFI setup, maybe it would be easier to dial in than using parts from a larger motor... Anybody used these yet?

looks like he spent muchu $$$ for just 265 HP when Supertec's 2.8SS goes to 300HP without titanium rods or Motec involved. EDIT, misread it, 295 with the Varioram

The PMO's look a bit like what Jenvey does in the UK
http://www.jenvey.co.uk/Imgs/Kits/CKPE04_m.jpg Jenvey being more expensive after you do the exchange rate, but since US products are non EU, they would get slapped with Import tax,+higher shipping, it would even it out. I'm kinda on a budget, so the Varioram intake, i think, could be found for cheap's compared to PMOEFI or Jenvey, all i would need is the injection2head couplers that Randy had CNC'ed. i pinged him about it

according to Randy Wells, who did the VR small displacement mentioned on the earlysregistry.
The Varioram setup doesn't like hot cams, anything more fancy the Euro 993 RS spec would be no-go 993 RS 3.8 240° @ .490" 226° @ .446" 110° 911 S 264° @ .450" 236° @ .400" 101° 906 282° @ .465" 252° @ .406" 95° So probably it's not worth the hassle for peak HP
