1989 Carrera Muffler w/ B&B headers
Hi all, recently pulled out a B&B exhaust system that had been in storage for a few years. The system was on the car, but then was taken off in about 2007. Anyways, the car was in the shop and the system got all bolted on, but then we discovered a big crack in the muffler. The headers are in good condition, but we need a replacement for the muffler. I have been looking for the muffler kits but they are all pretty expensive and we have an exhaust guy that can fit almost any can into place. What are the nicest and most free flowing mufflers that can be put on this car?

Standard for a B&B, most people simply weld it and continue on..

Easiest fix is to weld the crack and put a brace on - a search should show you how B&B reinforced their later mufflers. There are a number of different fixes, including flowmasters, with a choked down exhaust pipe, that will help cut down on the resonance.

thanks guys, got the muffler welded up and it did the trick, sure beats spending $1200 on a replacement!
