That would affect all 6 cyl. why is he only appearing to have problems on the right side. Can you pull the fuel pump relay and the upper vaalve cover and turn it over to verify you have valve train movement on the right side.
|
gsmith, the valve covers are off currently and there is valve movement on the right side.
It looks like i will not have much time to tinker with it for a day or so, i will post an update then |
you said there is ggod compression on all cyl. if you checked this with a compresson tester then you have no valve timing problem.
you said you found one bad injector. did you check them all? if you had a bad/plugged injector there is a chance the FD could be plugged. but i would just keep this in the back of your mind for now until you can rule out some other stuff. (i had suspected my FD for a long time, then i found a bad injector line. i was never certan enough about it to open it up.) if you did not have a blown air box before, you do now if someone saw flames below the air box. have you checked the intake botls to make sure they are tight. have you verified the plug wires are in correct order on the bad side? 1,6,2,4,3,5 front of car 3 6 2 5 1 4 rear of car for some reason i brain farted and kept thinking 4 was 5 when i was doing valves this last time, could not figure out why 4 was so tight, duh. thank goodness i did not change it. |
Hey Rex trying to get ahold of you please call 425 387 7416 thanks Chuck tooth911

For what it's worth, my car had two injectors that were so clogged they had to be soaked in solvent for a while before they finally blew clean. Also had 2 or 3 spark plug connectors that were toast from sitting so long. The resistors corrode and spark is weak or not there.
I also had a HUGE vacuum leak on the hose that goes from the oil tank to the back of the intake bellows. That hose was split almost all the way across the backside on my car. I now have a great running 79 911SC thanks to Charlie at Dennis Sherman in La Mesa, CA. Mike |
Mike,
Great to hear of the success, you are to be congratulated. My concern was that whenever one bank of cylinders is not performing, there is the possibility (likelihood) of a cam timing issue. Too often continued running can result in engine catastrophe. I am happy to see that wasn’t an issue in your situation. The inspections were very worthwhile nevertheless. Best, Grady |
