2.7 Vacuum Line Unconnected
Hello, this is my first post.
I have a 1977 911 with the 2.7. I bought it a while ago and couldn't get it to start. I had posted on Rennlist about the issue. Some said it was probably a vacuum issue. Well I was out in the garage today and found a vacuum hose without any connection. It's behind and between the fuel distributor and air plate. When I plug this, the darn thing started right up. It had quite a bit of vacuum on it until the engine warmed a little then it was minimal. Does anyone know what this should be hooked to? Why didn't the car start until I plugged it? Help!!! Tried to upload a photo but can't seem to get this to do that. ![]() |

Assuming you are referring to that 90 degree aluminum elbow, the pic below may help. This is from a 1976 motor.
![]() Parts 29, 50, and 47 may be what would interest you. Hopefully someone who knows what they are talking about will speak up. ![]()

That is suposed to plug into the boot between the air flow sensor and throttle body. You have the wrong boot.

Vacuum hose........
Quote:
Elsnider, Welcome to the 911 technical form. The reason why your engine was not starting was due to the disconnected vacuum hose as you know now. Without the hose connected, the engine won’t be able to lift the air sensor plate at the metering unit to activate the fuel distributor plunger. No fuel no start. Tony |

Looking up the info, it has got me confused about my motor, The pic of a 1976 that I posted. Near as I can tell, the PET for a 1976 does not match what the back of my motor looks like, however the PET above, for a 1977 does. My car is a later (I think) 1976 from Canada.
