Removing A/C
I had a local shop evacuate my a/c juice this week because I want to pull the entire system out of the car.
Is it now safe to remove the hoses? Should I expect more anything further to come out of the hoses? Is there any residual pressure in the lines? Forgive my ignorance. I know nothing about a/c systems. Also, I will likely leave the hoses in place (for now). Should I cap the ends with something? If so, what? Many thanks, Craig |
Yes, it's safe to remove the hoses. If you're not sure just depress the shrader valve on the compressor (looks like a bicycle tire tube valve) and see if anything comes out. When you remove the lines some residual oil will leak/drip out but not enough quantity to need anything to catch it with other than have a rag handy. Cap the lines to keep dirt out if you plan on using the system again later.
