I got the electric window battery drain problem (I searched)
Hi Folks,
So my car has had problems with a draining battery; I checked the alternator and it is working fine. I replaced the battery with a new one and since then it has gone flat within a week of no use. I searched the forum and found this is a common problem; my cars electric windows never switch off; they are supposed to via some kind of relay once the engine is switched off and the door is opened. Mine just keep working; this seems to be the cause of my drain. I've pulled the electric window fuse until I fix the problem. My question is what is the most likely culprit for this? does the relay fail a lot or is it something inside the door? Where should I check first? thanks! |
Door switches are a likely culprit and an easy fix. If your interior lights do not come on when you open the door, this throws suspicion on the door switches.

I had a similar problem.
I listened carefully when connecting the battery and I could hear a relay clicking which I located behind the instrument cluster. I yanked the relay and battery drain prob was solved. However, everything electrical continues to work, as far as I know!!! Until I read you post I had forgotten about it! |
