73T - Bodywork Phase

Having now completed the brake and suspension refurbishment, and with the car at Tuthills for a full setup before I get to drive it, the bodywork phase has started to progress.

The car was a very solid California import, but as with any 1973 car, needed some very minor rust repair, prior to creating my lightweight ST/RS/R themed car.

The following is an update on where it is now, and will be updated fully when returned to me for photos etc.

The 'S' trim mounting holes have been filled, and the sills painted body colour (light ivory).

The engine lid had the same treatment to the badge holes.

Same with the front bumpers.

The right hand door had a few low down rust blisters, and it was cheaper to replace the complete skin than fiddle about with a repair.

It still needs the new bonnet provided by 'Shaun 84 Targa' to be painted and fitted, but here is an overall shot for now.

A full write-up will follow with pictures when I get it back.

Ian

Hi Rich

The door skin fit isn't perfect, but I drew the line at a new door, as I gave the shop a finite budget to work with, but still very pleased with how it is coming along.

Undecided on whether to use the PORSCGE decals and stripes I have, as although I drew inspiration from your car, I would like to run it 'bare' initially and then take a view - I can always peel them off if I prefer the plain finish.

Your car looks terrific. Curious of why you decided to reskin doors rather than just replace doors?
Also, source for skins?
Thanks, Paul

From the very begining my plan was to have stripes & decals. Here's what it looked like naked...

Very nice Rich, but in the pictures I see how the stripes etc. set it off.

I have time on my side to decide the final direction :-)

Dropped by Tuthills today to take a look at the just delivered Carrera Targa, and snapped a few updates with the newly fitted bonnet now painted.
