H B 1 Headlights
Any one have these? They came on my car and I have not seen them before. A search has produced zero results. Here is a pic for reference.

Look like factory H5's to me. Should be standard issue on your MY for US.

Just factory H5 assemblies. These are on cars from 87-89 Carrera and 964's. European H4 is the best upgrade and retains the same look.

If these are H5 assemblies, then why is there an imprint that says HB 1 Bosch. Where would it say H5 on this light?

Here is a picture of my factory H5's. There are three aiming tits on the lenses and adjustment holes on the trim ring. The HB1 is the bulb type.

There is a marking somewhere on the lens that will say H5 just as the H4's say H4 and the H1's say H1.
here is a picture of an H4 and H1. The H1 is the best halogen light used by Porsche. Dual reflectors and bulbs. With a relay you can run 400 watts of continuous light or 200 on low beam and have the ability to direct both low and high independently. The H1's will run between $800 to $1200 a set used. The H4's are still available but the new ones are not the older DOT approved versions. I run them on my track car and the H1's are going on my turbo. This first picture is of an H4 You can read H4 in the center of the lens ![]() These are H1's although not a good picture. the lenses on both are nearly clear with very little fluting of the lens. they also come with either chrome or primered trim rings (Picture below primered) unlike the ones on your car which have no trim ring attached and the one is removable and painted to match the car. ![]()

the three little aiming nubs give it away as a DOT lamp. the 'HB1' is another name for the common 9004 halogen bulb.
