Speed and reference sensor bracket
 

Greetings,

I was changing out my speed and reference sensors, when I ran into a snag. The reference sensor slipped out with no issues at all. I was forced to remove the entire bracket in an attempt to get the speed sensor out. This bracket does not appear to have a sleeve for the speed sensor, only the reference sensor.

Anyway the speed sensor is stuck in the bracket, and stuck in their bad. I have tried PB blaster and WD40. it doesn't budge on the sensor end. On the wire end I can get it to rotate, but it doesn't do so in conjunction with the sensor end.

I had thought about replacing the bracket, but wasn't able to find it on Pelican. Here is the part number stamped on the bracket...

930.101.189.4R

Got any suggestions on how to remove the sensor? Since I took this pic I have tried to tap it out and mushroomed the end. Drill it out?

Sorry to say but tear it out, but becarefull not to damage the bracket, it is very soft and brittle.

Ask me how I know.

When you place the new sensor in, DO NOT TWIST IT IN. the sensor is liken to a light bulb filament, once you twist it, you will snap the fine sensor wires inside and result would be a bad new sensor, just press it in.

Thanks for the advice on inserting the sensor. Didn't think of that. Luckily the first sensor had resistance only from the O ring, so I don't think either new sensor is damaged.

I guess I am going to pull out the Dremel to see if I can cut it out.

When you broke yours, were you able to find a replacement?

No, when I damaged mine, it was the just the rim, there was plenty of housing left to hold the new sensor in place so I did not replace it. No issues at all.

Since you have the bracket off just tear away the thin tin of the sensor with a needle nose plyer. Just take care on the bracket.
