Rear" bumper insert" removal?

My L.side rear rubber bumper insert(the horizontal piece) is pulling away from the bumper. It looks like it might have a little rust in the insert where there is a recess for the bumper-shock nuts. How do I remove this piece? I can see only 1 nut under the car.Do I need to remove the rubber bumper and muffler heat shield? Thank-you!

The rubber trim strip that goes from the accordian to the large rubber bumperettes is held on by 2 screws (one at each end) that should be concealed by rubber trim plugs. The screw closest to the accordian has a nut behind it, while the other is threaded into the bumper.

I had the same issue. Water can get to the back side of the rubber strip through the bumper bolt hole. I found a good used set here in the "for sale" area.

I would take care of it now before it gets worse because I has a small issue getting the screw out of the bumper because it was rusted too.

Thank-you gentlemen! It was an easy job and I'm glad I didn't wait. The phillips-head screw required a little Wurth Rost-Off and the 2 flat washers for the bumper schocks had begun to rust also.Thanks-again!
