Is Flat Black played out?
The paint on my 911 is thrashed, the result of countless track days, a couple of incidents, neglect, and the various injustices that occur in the course of working on it.
Is flat black paint played out? I haven't seen any mention of it for quite some time. I have a set of carbon fiber front fenders to install, and will soon have a carbon fiber roof, and I figure flat black would offset these bits nicely. For that matter, is carbon fiber played out? You know what - I don't care:

Paint the car flat black! Paint the carbon fiber too. The look of carbon fiber has become ricey in my opinion. The fact that you know that you have the advantages of carbon fiber, but choose not to flaunt it by painting it, says that you are truely interested in the value of carbon fiber instead of trying to make an impression.

What about satin black or a combo?
As long as it's not done with a spray can it's all good in my opinion.

I've always wanted to see a 911 in military flat green.
One of the guys here had a barn-find that came that way and it look friggin' awesome before he repainted it in some lame shiny color. Im considering going flat-green when I build my coupe-roller.

I think flat black looks horrible. It was never "played in", it has only been appreciated by a very select few. If you paint it flat black you'll probably get tired of it soon.

![]() I think it looks cool, and I nearly went with a matte color but am glad to have the silver. on your car, it would look SICK! ![]()

I prefer a matte black over flat black. Slight sheen makes it easier to take care of than a pure flat color as well.

Rosewood and Crystal (uber rare) are the new blacks anyway.

all you have to do is look at a hotrod mag and you'll see a lot of people are into this color, just not that many with a Porsche. In my view, that is what makes it 'cool' is that it is unique and more aggressive.
