I had a similar problem with my '86. The pedal didn't travel freely on the way up and was kind of sticking. Turned out to be the cable needed adjusting. I don't know anything about the G50 transmission, but I assume it still uses a mechanical clutch instead of hydraulic. But maybe I'm wrong.

A sticking pedal is concerning for a seizing clutch release shaft bearing--potentially bad. When was the last time the clutch was changed? Has the shaft been updated? Does the clutch still function and is the point of engagement the same?

My clutch is three years old (G50 w/hydraulic clutch). It would occasionally stick, but would come back to life after pulling the pedal off the floor. Checked the slave cylinder; it was weeping a little so I changed it. The problem came back a few weeks later. I replaced the master cylinder and it now feels like new, no more sticking, and a consistent engagement point.
