1983 911SC Wide Body Factory Authentication Needed

I've got a 83 Porsche 911SC with a wide body. I'm only the third owner and the second owner bought it from a close friend. They say it is a factory special order of a 930 style wide body with the 911 engine. Now I'm selling the car and everyone is concerned that is was not a factory wide body. How do you know?? Is there a way to verify what actually happened at the factory? Thanks,

Here is the vin number, I hope it can shed some light on the factory history. WP0AA0911DS12XXXX
Thanks for all your help, suggestions and comments.

The true way to find out is to look at the option list sticker under the trunk lid or in your owner's manual. M491 is the designator for factory widebody. However, I believe this option began in 1984.

The true way to find out is to send your VIN and ownership info to PCNA and get a cert. of authenticity. This will confirm whether it was shipped from the factory as a widebody.

HTH,
Scott

The VIN just shows it as an 83 SC Coupe.
What do you have for brakes? The 84-86 Carrera wide body from the factory had everything turbo except the engine. Do you know if you have turbo brakes or normal SC calipers and rotors? Have a look under the front trunk lid (underside) and look for the white sticker with option codes.
If these two clues don't sort it for you, you'll have to get a COA from PCNA and see what the cardex says.

Guys, the white sticker under the trunk lid didn't exist until nerlry the end of 1983 production, so that probably won't help. The M491 option didn't start until 1984 production. If it was a special wishes car, that likely woudn't be on the sticker anyway, as they usually built the car first, then sent it to the special wishes department. And then, if a customer wanted just the body, and nothing else, that was probably available. So, looking at the suspension may not help.

I'd suggest tracking down the original owner and getting the story from him.

Call 1-800-porsche....option #3 I think.

Tell them you are interested in buying a car and want to check the VIN# for the factory options that were delivered on the car.

This will save you the $100+ for the COA.

Thanks for the info. I look quite a few times for that sticker. Mine (cab # 0070) was completed on the the 27 Nov 82 and sure enough there is no sticker. I do have the Paint Sticker on the trunk passenger side.

Thanks for the tip...most helpful in researching my 911mnypt...I just called them asking for info on what options the car came with.

Regards,
Richard

The brake rotors should be crossed drilled with holes just like the turbos if it is a factory turbo body.
