Seat kits for a 76 911sc
I just recently bought a 1976 Porsche 911 SC, and the front seats are a bit torn up. I want to access my options. The seats in the car are navy with a plaid design in the middle sections. I doubt I would be able to find that exact design again. So what I have been thinking is that I would like to replace them with all vinyl seats.
I found this site here: Porsche 911, 912, seats, tops and carpet which offers a "seat kit" describing it with only a few words "Plain insert. No pleats in headrest, German vinyl". The number of the kit I am talking about is 911-3232-2. Does anyone know exactly all that would include? And how much work it would take to install the "kit"? Does it include just the upholstery? Or the foam inserts as well? Are there any other options out there for someone looking to find a couple of Navy seats? Is it better to just take the seats to a reupholstering shop and see what they can do? I would prefer to keep this project from costing me anything over seven hundred dollars. Maybe that is unreasonable. Thanks for reading. Any and all help is appreciated |

I spent some time looking at the kits and what not. Thinking that my seats needed some padding and general refurb after 30+ years I started looking around for a local guy to stretch whatever covers I bought on. After getting some quotes, I finally just asked the last guy how much it would be for him to make the covers and put them on. He did the whole thing for $600 and I must admit they are beautiful. I got them done in marine vinyl which should wear like iron and they look nicer than my original factory covers.
My advice is to seek out a local who does nice work and pick your own material. All your seats will match.
