Shipping to Germany
Has anyone had experience with palletized shipping in the 300# area to Germany? Airfreight prices seem to be to be in the range of a Mars mission . Final destination would be to to Ramstien or Hamburg area or nearest port
Thanks in advance . |

That can get tricky. I dealt with containerized cargo coming into the US in a former life, but I can tell you that for a small shipment, your best bet is to Google an ocean shipping broker or freight forwarder in your area. Make sure that they take it door to door, because you don't want to get involved in finding a trucker to pull it from the destination port and deliver it your customer. Also, make sure that they will clear local customs and pay all fees/duties/import charges/taxes/etc. because daily storage charges will obliterate your Porsche fund in short order.
And lastly, take nothing for granted. Ask questions, take notes, then ask more questions. And when you understand everything, ask more questions. Seriously. I had a guy ship a Jeep Cherokee from Australia in a container and he thought he could just show up at the port and drive it away. Get all your ducks in a row BEFORE your shipment arrives so you can get it moving out quickly. Good luck!

Shipping to Germany
Thanks Joe,
Tried that and got some good info. It is amazing how much time you can spend looking for solutions to a buyers problems. That is why I try to buy/sell in the good Ol USA. I hope the guy likes his new 2.4 engine core. Eddie |

Tell your buyer to call interglobalshipping.de +49-(0)421-989749-90 and he should order a pallet shipping door2door or door2habour. Very convient and hassle free. They will arrange pick up at your house and do all the customs etc.

I told buyer to set it up. He used DSL and they did everything, picked up in Denver, trucked to East Coast, shipped (on a ship) to Spain (where he lives), did customs, everything.

Look the reality is that if you want to ship a motor on a pallet to Germany hte chaepest way is by ship. That means finding a company that has space in a 20 foot standard container( A motor alone doesnt justify a whhole container). That means shopping around and always have the dimensions and the pallet weight at hand. Most will take care of the customs for you ( the so called T1 form). Shop around and dont let them brow beat you. The US/ europe market is in tatters and shippers are dying for cargo so get the best deal you can. Beware of additional charges and try get a door to door delivery
