Early 911 Rear bumper rubber insert trim problems
Hi Everyone,
Okay - Clearly there are lot's of posts on this subject but I could not find a definitive answer. Here is the question: The "Tasker" reproduction rubber inserts for the wide "S" style trim comes in two pieces. These two pieces do not fit together well. The short tapered end piece is wider and taller than the long straight piece. More over, the long straight piece does not have the channels tooled deep enough into the rubber which results in it sitting above the aluminum trim piece by almost an eighth of an inch. I've found some input about matching up the tops of the two peices and the side facing up (most visible from a standing point of view) and gluing them before assembling on the aluminum track. After playing around with these a bit it just does not seem acceptable. I think the folks at Tasker accepted a tool that was just not quite right. This is ashame because it needed just one more set of adjustments and they would have been fine. Okay - the question is has anyone out there found a good solution for replacing these old gashed and torn rubber parts? Or has anyone figured out how to modify the Tasker pieces in order to make them install acceptably. Any input would be much appreciated and highly valued. Thanks all, Best, Alex |

No help here but agree 100% they accepted the fact poor quality and chosen not to remedy. I place it in the same category as re-pro tail and front re-pro lenses on the market junk that can be spotted 10 feet away particularly the rears that are painted/tinted with the red so heavily only a 100 watt bulb would allow enough light to pass. When I spoke with vendor he told me it has been brought up with the manufacturer on many occasions and they don't give a damn.

Still looking for a solution
Has anyone been able to find reproduction inserts from an other manufacturer that work nicely? I'm still trying to figure out what the best solution for this problem is going to be.
Any input is much appreciated, Best, Alex |
