Will it be bad if I plug wrong sensor in?
Ok I have a quick question about the 3.2. I have just put one in my car. I have the loom all set to plug in and I realise the two flywheel sensors have the same plugs.
So I have wires labeled BG and DG. and two plugs from the loom that are exact fitment..... I have a 50% chance of getting it right but I want to make sure there will be no damage done to the ecu if I get it wrong. Any information will be appreciated Thanks in advance!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1257122624.jpg |
No problem - the car just won't start. BG reads the flywheel pin, DG reads the teeth. I forget the german, but BG is the reference used only for starting and DG is for speed. The ECU won't allow a spark if they are flipped. Each develop the same type of signal, just the rate is different, and the ECU/DME ignores them if wrong. When I replaced mine last year, I marked them, but still managed to flip them. The mating plug-side labels had come off. Yeah, I had a 50/50 chance and messed up, but after a few minutes troubleshooting, I switched them at the plugs and she fired right up.
Auf Deutsch: PS..in German... BG = Bezugsmarken geber ( reference mark identifier or "giver") DG= Drehzahl geber ( revolutions identifier or "giver") translation credit to Wil Ferch |
Thank you very much!!

The sensors are the very same part number. No harm to swap but like Dan said, it will not start.
Wow, that is a CLEAN car. Nice work! |
