Temporary Seat Swap
Good morning and I'm not seeing this topic covered in the past. Anyone know if its possible to "temporarily" swap the passenger seat to the drivers side while I have the drivers seat repaired? Drivers seat is sitting low and the back cushioning is a bit weak, otherwise they're fine for my needs. I notice the passenger side is a much nicer place to sit so why not move it over for awhile.
I can live with the functions missing and plenty of storage to my right. ![]() |

I have done it on early cars--up to 75--with manual seats. I think you should not have a problem but I can't vouch for newer, or power, seats.

You can swap them easily. Just unbolt and move it over. Obviously, you'll lose the elctric functions but you said that was ok.
I swapped my manual seats until I bought race buckets.

You'll catch your pants leg on the fore/aft adjustment lever.... or at least I did. Otherwise no problems, though I found the manual seat to be a touch lower than the electric one, which I liked actually.

Excellent, it didn't look to be a major problem so now just have to line up the repair activity.
I never use the electric functions anyway. |

My seats are permanently swapped. I prefer it this way, it's far easier to reach the tilt mechanism (both manual seats). I do catch my pants on the arm sometimes, but I sit with my seat all the way back anyways, so it doesn't go anywhere.

It's not a problem to bolt it in, and also I don't see why you wouldn't be able to plug in the electrical connector, too, so it fully functions.

My 80 SC was swapped by the PO when he saw a 'little' wear on the driver's bolster (I can't see it).
Been like that for years. No problem. |
