will a 84-89 heat ex fit a 80-83?

I recently purchased a used pair of heat exchangers from a Pelican member for my 82 3.0L SC. The part number in PET was listed as 930-211-025-02. The ones he sent are stamped 930-211-029-01. These seem to be for a 84-98 3.2L Carrera. He said the ones he sent superseded the 930-211-025-02 and that they should fit. Is this true? I can't read the numbers on mine (too rusty), but I do have the thick flanges, like the one's he sent.

Thanks for your help!

Garage
i remember a post close to this that said it would work , they will mount up i am sure , if the top exchanger works without mods IDK ? they should or be modded slightly ...

the numbers do line up as the "next" gen of the first part number ... best of luck

the problem with the crosses usually go the other way , IE smaller motor to larger , with the earlier being smaller in diameter and choking a larger motor a bit ...

Carrera Exchangers have thicker flanges than SC one's, so your stud lengths would be too short, which would mean you would have to change out the old studs for new ones, could be a hassle.
Hole centers are the same pitch.

Thanks for the replies.

So, I think the conclusion would be that they will fit, but I'll have to trim the lip flush with the flange. I have thick flanges right now, so the studs should be the right length.

Thanks!
