Newbie Alert.....short Story.....Option Code ???
I've lurked here for years....reading...and waiting.
To make a long story ......short My wife purchased a 1989 Cab for me..... I actually found it 4 weeks ago......took it for a few days......good history...great condition......good inspection.......the perfect car for me. But....... I couldn't pull the trigger...no reason...just couldn't do it. I told her it was a great car and I should have bought it.."Yeah Yeah" she says Apparently.... the day after I gave it up....she bought the darn thing. and kept it hidden. Until last friday after our 16year anniversary dinner ...when she had the valets at the restaurant switch cars. .....So when I presented the claim ticket after dinner..... out came the Cab. The kids...and entire restaurant were in on this suprise . Absolutely floored me........... I could hardly move. I got her a Taser(for good reason...cut me some slack) No doubt about it .........I do have the best wife. What makes it even funnier is......what she didn't know at the time was..... she purchased an Anniversary Edition Cab Best weekend......... EVER!!!!!!!!! I do have an option code question: What does the "M473 With spoilers" code mean? Thanks BaB http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1257302490.jpg |
Great story and a great wife.
Happy anniversary and best of luck with your new ride. |
Welcome to the board. Great wife and great car. The 89 SA edition cars are great and limited numbers. Don't remember the numbers but a search here will give you lots of info on the silver anniversary edition cars.
The option code is front and rear spoilers. I see the front spoiler but the tail is not there. A PO may have removed the tail. MY personal preference is tail less...:D |
thats what I was wondering...
if the code meant both front and rear spoilers. Where's the rear spoiler???????? Boyd |
Cool story! Guess you can't lurk anymore!
Check with the PO for the rear spoiler story, otherwise write it off for now and add it to the list you will be creating - trust me;-) Welcome to the club! (of list makers). cheers!! |
This site is an option decoder and shows 473 as with spoilers or power left seat. Not sure if Porsche just put the front spoiler on or the previous owner installed a front spoiler and you have the drivers power seat option. Porsche Option Decoder

Great story!
As to the rear spoiler, check under the decklid, there should be a small rectangular sticker with a VIN on it. See if the VIN on the sticker matches your car. If not, someone swapped out the spoiler lid for the non-spoiler one from a different car. If the VIN matches, and your car came from the factory with a spoiler, you should be able to see some evidence of it. After removing the spoiler, there would have been a bunch of holes that would have to be welded up, and the whole thing repainted (front and back). You likely would be able to see evidence of the repaint. For example, either masking around the emissions sticker under the decklid, or that sticker missing. |
Tag on decklid matches vin.....power seats installed.
No signs of modification on rear decklid. |
Hold on tight to your wife. Lots of guys on this board are jealous of you. :)
Nice car, neat story. |
Great story. Your wife is the best!!!!!!!! Does she have a sister?
|
You're screwed... Now you have to come up with a better gift for her! ;)
Congrats! |
yes.......... I'm am definitely on deck for a monster gift next year.
Thanks for the congrats!! |
That's perhaps the best story I've heard on here yet! Congratulations on both a great car and a great wife!
|
Very nice ride!
About the spoilers,Does the engine lid have one or two shocks at the hinges?I believe spoilers came with two,w/o came with one. |
