new 85 carerra owner needs advise

I have owned an 85 carerra 3.2 for last 2 months and i have to say i get more joy from driving this car than anything i have ever owned. I have been trying to track down a creaking/chirping/crickett type noise that seems to come from left rear or middle of vehicle. Usually happens after i start car cold or if it has been parked for 4-5 hours, and goes away after a few minutes. I have replaced worn out rear sway bar links and bushings, lubed all accessible suspension compnents, adjusted and lubed doors, hood and engine lid, lubed all rubbers seals for doors, hood and engine lid. Have also replaced steering shaft bushing for a scraping nioise from steering wheel, but nothing i have done so far has helped. Have even inspected rear sway bar brackets for cracks as advised on previous post. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Is it suspension noise? Is it only there when you move?

Could it be the fan (heat, not engine)?

What bushings are on the control arms (factory rubber will be silent, plastic bushing might squeak)?

If you add your location to your profile I suspect someone will direct you to a local shop that will solve it in a few minutes.

P.S. Nice car. Good choice.

Beautiful car...
My chirping was caused by the A/C condenser fan.... See if it changes when you change the fan speed...

That's a beautiful car! I love you chrome headlight surrounds too - go very well with the polished fuchs.

I'm stumped as to what your creaking/chirping sound is though. I take it it only happens when your car is in motion yeah, and is not connected to engine speed? And is it a continual sound or occasional?

My car acted exactly as yours did, and it turns out my A/C belt was almost falling off.

It got fixed and the chirping sound went away.

the noise mostly happens once i start moving, but i can make it happen if the car is stopped and i rev engine up to approx 1400 to 1700 rpm. if i turn, or go over a bump and flex the chassis it seems to get louder. to the best of my knowledge the LCA have factory rubber bushings. you may be right, i does seem to sound like it could be a fan, but a/c and heater are off, unless its the cooling fan for the engine. noise never happens when vehicle is wasrm, and goes away in a minute or so. from inside the car it sounds like it is coming up from under rear seat or from behind rear seat towards engine area. Porsche owners seem like good people and very helpfull, im very happy to be one. thank you for taking the time.

actually after stqarting the car cold, i can reproduce noise without moving car if i rev engine to approx 1400-1700rpm. its not continuous though, but it will happen almost every time after starting car cold and taking off, or turning and going over a bump, or if engine rpm is low and i'm in a higher gear, when engine is under load, but ive never heard noise when car is warm.
thanks for getting back so quick--i am very grateful for this site!

i just checked the engine compartment and there are signs that engine fan blades are making contact with fan housing on bottom, there are spots where fan has scraped housing on bottom. also, did you mean fan for the heater? and could it cause noise even when heater fan is not on. thanks for heading me in the right direction, might be the enigne fan

I know I was referring to the condenser fan for the A/C.
Sounds like you found it by zeroing in on the engine (cooling) fan.
I haven't run into a fan rubbing problem before so someone else will need to chime in here.... That fan is directly attached to your alternator... just guessing now... maybe it's loose or perhaps worn bearing for the alt ; Someone here will know.

squeak or no, it's still an awesome-looking car.
