Ice, Snow, BORED!
While watching the snow pile up in front of the garage, did a little digging into the history of my 1988 Carrera.
Apparently it has had 4 owners and spent most of its life in the southeast. The immediate PO bought it for about $14,000 +- in 2004. He drove it about 10,000 miles and spent $18,069 in maintenance and repairs (!!). He had no upgrades or modifications done except for the turbo brake discs that were put on it during a major brake rebuilt at 75000 miles. In 2 ½ years he spent $4300 on the air conditioning system alone. For some reason, he paid nearly $200 every 2000 miles to have the synthetic oil changed. It apparently leaked like a sieve because he had the rear main seal and all the oil lines and return tubes replaced. It didn’t leak when I got it, but it went through a quart of synth every 600 miles. (I changed to 20-50 dino and it doesn’t leak & burns a quart every 1000 miles). He put Kumho Exsta 712s on it, but replaced them with Bridgestone 050s after 10,000 miles. I can’t find the records of when the turbo valve covers, the Autothority chip were installed. It doesn’t show up in the CarFax, but the left front fender has been replaced. I discovered that while installing a headlight relay. Found fender bolts caught in the wires behind the fuse block. In 2002, prior to the immediate PO, the original clutch disc came apart. At that time the release shaft was updated and the clutch was replaced with a 930 disc – cost $1821 in 2002. The flywheel should have been replaced, which I discovered when looking into a continuing clutch chatter problem. That cost me about $2000. This has been an expensive car. I have maintenance and repair records with prices back to 2002 and records without prices back to 1997. Digging up my car’s past has been a fun archaeology/geneology exercise, but I’d rather be driving it. Can’t wait for spring.

You are really bored, but it's always fun to know where something/one/where has come from. When you run out of things to do, why not come on down to GA and use said car to chase down the mouse I just saw out in the garage? Little b*stard's been playing with my head for weeks.
I suspect he'll die of a combination of lead poisoning and silicosis within the week.
