build your own !
wanted to share my latest project. Custom built headers for my 3.6 transplant project (going in my 82' SC). They are 1 3/4" stainless-304, 0.065 ga., equal length, well almost, 18",19",18". Any Thoughts? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1257307142.jpg

you sir , have skills , there are many here who would pay dearly for those , they are a work of art , almost a shame to put on the bottom of a motor ....
one idea is to carry a couple of mirrors and put them down when you park to show off your work ... truly nice . |

Hard to see the clearances in the pics, but could you sharpen the bend in the middle pipe and move it down enough to take an inch off where it meets the head?

Your primary tube design is similar to mine. Back purge is not as critical in a non-turbo application but you would not want to suck in any slag during decel. I assume you are welding this up.

The "kit" I used was purchased from a company called "icengineworks" it came with dozens of various pieces (different radius & straights) and the welding clamps you see in the pictures. It took me about a week and several attemps before I got them to fit & equal length. The muffler is a Magnafold "X" flow type at about 14" wide. Somebody said the "x" flow may not be good?? and I think I could have gone with something wider (like 20" wide) and thus less loud?? This it my belief or two cents on the X flow. It was not intended to be used with exhaust gasses coming at each other where the tubes cross. It is more intended as a cross over and muffler for a car with a V6/8 where the tubes and gasses are running the same direction.
If you are intent on a Magniflow style muffler there is one that has two straight through tubes. This has been used with one side of the motor going through the upper passage and the other thought the lower tube in and out. They also make a Camaro muffler that has two 2.25" In's on each end and one 2.5" out on one end. Your design is perfect for a Flowmaster muffler which is designed with an In and Out on both ends of the can. It is a proven race muffler on a 911 and makes power but can drone with its two tail pipes. |

Where are you going to mount the lambda sensor ? Can the wires be lengthened ?
