Anyone know Par Cars in NY?

I just bought some wheels on Ebay from this guy and he has some slow shipment bad history. He is in Rochelle NY. Does anyone on this board know him or can provide feedback before I send the money?

Thumbs down

Well, I don't know about their shipment reliability, but I've been learning quite a bit about the quality of their work. My car had a lot of work done there--they did all the performance and cosmetic mods and sold the car to the guy I bought it from. Let's just say attention to detail isn't their strong suit and leave it at that...

There was a similar thread involving these guys last week that you may find of interest. Not especially encouraging...

New York porsche guy

Good luck,

Thanks guys - anyone close enough to go pick up the wheels and ship them to me?

I will of course pay all of your expenses. Thanks

Opinions certainly vary on respective boards.

I've spent well over $150,000 on two Porsche 911s, their maintenance & numerous upgrades at PAR and have been thoroughly satisfied. Having highly recommended them to a number of people, they, too, have been very happy with the service, knowledge & responsiveness of PAR.

Having said that, it seems that this board has an overly negative, and in my opinion, not deserved, view of PAR. The view on Rennlist, however, is just the opposite. It's interesting to note that certain parallels relative to socioeconomic demographics can be readily identified in explaining this dichotomy.

I'm against tenure; I'm one of the few conservative Professors in this country and VERY ANTI-UNION!!!

Porsche911NYC,
I brought up the question only because of their feedback on ebay. I would say their reputation is marginal by ebay standards, so it's not just this board:

Actually, I wouldn't call a 95% Positive response rate marginal (152 positive responses out of 160 total responses). Looks to me like they've more than satisfied the overwhelming majority of people.

Meaning what? There is collinearity between social class and favourable view of PAR? Or are you referring to regional dummy variables? Whats the sample size? Controls for age, gender, years of Porsche ownership? Lets have it ...

FWIW, tenure is GREAT.

I'm just trying to figure out how one goes from being accepted into grad school to professor in 1.5 years. Must be one of them new-fangled accelerated programs.

FWIW, 1 negative feedback is more telling than several "positives" that could be from friends and relatives or for $2 items to build up your feedback #s, (this is S.O.P. for businesses on ebay), also the 4 "neutrals" are really negatives if you read them. I'd say beware.

The response on this board is more like 95% negative, could it be that none of us are in your rarified socioeconomic demographic and deserving of good service from them, Professor? Nahhh, I don't think so. (On either point). I don't frequent Rennlist, is that a better neighborhood, so to speak?

911NYC, please post your actual accomplishments on this board and where you are a "Professor". (Preferably verifiable). You have always been a braggart here, I think that you are FOS. That is all, have a nice day.

Porsche911NYC,
Note that I said "by ebay standards", 4 neutrals and 4 negatives in the past 6 months is NOT a good rating, regardless of the number of positives.

BTW, can someone tell me how to check a PM?

So when you spend "well over $150,000" you get better service? I prefer to deal with vendors who deliver quality products and services whatever the total tab.

For your students' sake, I certainly hope you're not a professor at a business school.

This board is an inanimate object sitting on Wayne's servers and in cyberworld and cannot posses a negative view. The negative views are being posted by board members who have had negative experiences with PAR.

Michael,

As an off-topic aside, I was still curious if you ever sold your C2 that was listed and discussed on the Rennlist forums a while ago when you were accepted into the PhD program?

If so, and if you don't mind my asking, what did the car ultimately sell for?

Thanks,
Tim

Sorry, that is not all. I have had the pleasure of meeting many of the contributors to this board, I am constantly amazed by the quality of people around here. Besides being generous and a lot of fun to know, the (undisclosed) accomplishments of many of them catch me off guard when I get to know them, since they are low-key on this board in that regard. Hell of a lot of interesting people here.

And lastly, NYC, you are not "one of the few conservative Professors in this country", if in fact you are a professor at a major university. Where did you get that info, from Rush Limbaugh? My brother attended grad school at one of the elite pinko institutions that you probably despise, (because they would not accept you), and his instructors included Condeliza Rice, who remains a good friend if not political bedfellow, and a fellow student from his (very small) program is now the National Security Counsel Advisor for the Africa Region, under President Bush.

As an insulting, presumptuous individual, you are truly not in "the overwhelming majority" around here.
