15x6/8's- Look Ridiculous?

I just purchased some flares for my narrow body '74...I currently have 15x6's all around. I'm thinking about selling one set of 15x6's once the flares are installed, and upsizing to 15x8's on the rear. Does this look ridiculous? I don't wish to have any rubbing issues on the front, so I have concluded that 15x7's aren't necessary unless anyone on the forum here has evidence to the contrary. Just thought I would throw it out for discussion.

Thanks in advance for your opinions...

I have a 74 narrow as well, so please post some pics of your finished project, as I've really wanted to get some wider wheels on mine as well--but gotta deal with getting new flares. I run 6x16's and 7x16's, lowered it about 1.5 inches and I_think_ I get some front wheel rubbing on full lock turns. That's on 205/50 front tires.

I believe 7X15 front and 8X15 rear fuchs was stock for the later, flared SC's so your car should look and perform fine with those size wheels. 6X15's on the front, however, may look a bit out of the ordinary with the 8's on the rear, but I wouldn't call it "funny looking." If you want a stock SC look, 7's and 8's are the call.

Just for clarification...I will be installing flares only on the rear. That being said, does anyone have issues with 15x7's on the front of the narrow bodies? As Ossiblue said, and I agree, the 15x6 front with 15x8 rears may look odd. If it's not an issue with 15x7's on the front, I'll try to find a full set of 15x7/8's (although they are getting harder to find) and sell my entire set of 15x6's...

My 1972 I believe has the same (or perhaps even smaller) front flares as your 74. I run 15x7s up front with no rubbing issues, though watch your tire size. I have 205/60 front tires for the street which I used to use at the track, with no front sway bar, and I did get rubbing during hard cornering, only on the right. Since I switched to 205/40 front tires, I get no rubbing whatsoever, though the car's ride height is set for 60 profile tires, and needs to be lowered for 40 (which is what I'll go with once I replace both sets of tires - the 60s look like balloons). However, after installing a front sway bar, with the drastic reduction in body roll, there wouldn't be an issue with even bigger tires.

So the short answer is 7s should be fine for you.

I went with 16" Boxster wheels, 6" and 7". They allow me to run 205/55 and 225/50 tires with no rubbing. I think they look great, giving it a very "factory" look. Here are a couple pics (pardon my butt!).

My 73 has 7's on the front also, with no rubbing issues. Tire brand, size, and ride height are all factors but staying around the 205X60 sizes should cause no problems.

6's and 8's...but these are 16's. One of my 7" front BBSs were bent, so I threw the old 6" Fuchs back on...and it has been that way for 6 months

Thanks all...I think I'll start by purchasing some 15x7's that will begin on the rear and eventually some 15x8's that will replace them at which time I'll swap the 15x7's to the front.

That being said...anyone got a ugly straight pair of 15x7's lying around anywhere. I will be having a full polish done by Al Reed before installation, so they don't have to be pretty...

It will look Awesome man!!! Its a Porsche... I would run 7's up front for an agressive look.

Here is mine on 8's up front and 9's rear. Tried to keep the body looking as narrow as possible. Buy wheels first then fit the guards to suit.
