86 motor in 77 911, heater motor

I have a 77 911 with a 86 3.2. Now that it's getting cold I'd like activate the fan that is on the left side of the engine for the heater shrouding. Presently all I can do now is pull up those 2 levels alongside the hand brake but it really doesn't heat up the cab very fast or much at all. I think activating the fan over the engine would be just the ticket to get a "hot" car. Was wondering what others have done as from what I understand this engine swap is a common thing now. Are there any wires or switches needed? Or how about a wiring diagram which shows how to activate?
Thanks in advance, and again this is my first Porsche so I'm in the learning state.

You could just do a Backdated heat and avoid the heater fan all together. A cleaner look in my opinion. You might have to buy a couple of heater block off plates. Here is what it looks like on a 3.0

Have you looked at the components of your heat system? Your flappers might be rusty and not closing, cables may be stuck, etc.

I have SSI's on my 3.0 and the air gets hot. My fan is not working and the only thing I need it for is defrost, I'd like to be able to put more warm air on the windshield on some of these wet days. I'm going to look into wiring a separate switch to turn the motor on and off so it doesn't activate with the levers pulled as I get plenty toasty without the fan. I've never troubleshot my system so I don't know what is causing the motor to not come on now.

on the rear panel the bottom 2 fuses and the black relay along with the 2 contacts on the heater pulls makes the circuit

Bruce, I'm kinda slow so bare with me, are you saying the to two levers have a wired switch on my 77 body with goes back to that little aluminum unit mounted on the drivers side inside rear fender wall (with a few round relays, 2 I think) and then over to the 2 wires for the fan? So this feature to turn on the fan was in 77 and will work also for the 86 motor fan?
