Rear Wing Screen

Does anyone have any instructions on how to remover the rear screens out of the rear wing on a 89 Carrera? I'm not sure what screws to take out to get them out.

On the inside of the tail there are a number of brackets holding the louvers. Once you get those off you are left with the screens. I cannot remember if there are any bolts for the screens. The pics may help...

Thanks Greg for your pictures. It looks like i need to take the wing off the car to get them out. My goal was to get the screens out without taking the wing off. What im trying to do is mount 2 P-car badges without poking holes through the screen for mounting.

Rob,

Once you remove the brackets and lift out the two louvered metal pieces, you'll see that the screens are each held in by one screw. Here are my versions of the same photos from before I installed my tail.

Hate to say it, but I don't think its possible to take out those screens with the tail on the car.

David

just a question .
If you are going to mount some badges on the wing (screen / louver area) that is a flat surface ... kinda hard to see the badges,

What about making a bracket or something say on the license plate area ?

Hi Brian,

That is a good idea. These are badges I'm trying to mount. Maybe under the license plate? Or maybe off to one side under the rear rubber Impact bumper? Any thoughts?

Rob, just use a few pieces of flat stock to place (perpendicular to the louvers) UNDER the louvers but ABOVE the screen. Then just bolt 'em up. The tension against the louvers will hold 'em in great. (Has worked on mine for almost 10 years and have not budged at all. Paint the stock flat black & you'll never see it.

Can you send me pictures of your setup? I was thinking of doing that but was concerned about it wearing on the louvers themselves or bending them.

Whenever the wife gets home, I'll try to take a few shots. (She's driving the car with the badge today)

Sorry, but the badge is on the red one. The white one is begging for the "Pelican badge" I bought for it LONG ago to be put on though.

I would love to see both the cars. Mine (Badges) have been sitting in the garage for about a year now. Time to get them on.

Going to toss this idea out ...
#1 I like the badges ..
My dad was one of the original team to design the PCA badge
(so I HAVE to love it )
& I am an Impact bumper fellow as well

How about something a bit more "euro" and add them to the front ... ?

Here you go Rob...Sorry for the bad pics...and we just got back from PorschePalooza in the rain, so excuse the dirty car as well. I took the picks a bit off-center so you could see the mounting plates better. They hardly show at all in regular sunlight.
