1987 911 power top won't cycle all the way closed

I have a 1987 911 with the power top and it was working fine until I brought it to a shop to have the top replaced. The rear window was blown out by some A-hole while in a parking lot. The top shop used the switch to open the top only half way so he could remove the old top and start the process. When it came time for him to close the top fully it would come down to the top of the windshield but would not complete the latch process. He did not cycle the top all the way down due to not finishing the top installation. He can use the switch to put the top up and down, not all the way on the down side yet, but it will not finish with the latching. Does the top have to do a full down cycle for this to reset? The servos in the header panel seem to be fine. They click but don't latch. I am getting this second hand from the top shop guy so I have not tried it myself yet. He said he can complete the latching with a screwdriver as if doing it on a manual top. Any thoughts here? Suggestion?
Thanks,
Jeff

There are limit switches which are difficult to set as I used to have a cab. The top replacement guy sounds like an idiot if he returned it to you this way. A good Porsche shop will be able to fix this in less than one hour and it is well worth the $60-$100. Trust me on this!

I haven't gotten it back yet. He told me he was having this problem and I am doing the research in case he does return it to me this way. He is actually a really good top replacement guy and has done 3 other tops for me on other cars...73 super beetle, 68 442 and 68 camaro...which is why I went to him. was just odd that the top worked fine when i dropped it off but now it has a problem. I was thinking maybe it was a cycling thing. Guess not. Thanks for the reply!
