72 door latch failure!

First thought after trying to close the door on the way home from work a few times... Well that sucks.
First thought after the door popped open at 60 MPH (it was staying shut at the safety catch position)... Well that really *&%*^* SUCKS!

Anyone with experience out there with this situation??
Here's a couple of photos, the latch now moves up and down about 3/4 inch, the other one does not..
Pulling down lightly:
!

"Normal position"

I did a part search on Pelican and came up with nada, I used the schematics at the official Porsche and searched part # 91153105302 on Pelican, still nada.

Of course I call our host and realized it was after 5 pm...

I did find a web site that tells me 91153105302 is replaced by part # MSU000676, door lock, manual 911 left 1984-89.

Is that my only option for a new part???

will I have to "make it fit" , change the striker or sell my first born to make it work again???

I'd hate to sell my first born, cause I really like him a lot after 18+ years of him hanging around!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

That sounds like what happened to my '69 several years ago. The sleeve broke free of the base. The door would not stay shut. I tig welded it back in, and it has held ever since; knock on wood.

Thanks! I hope that's the answer!
I would prefer to repair rather than replace.

The timing is so bad on this, I normally take an early morning drive on some awesome roads that lead into the North Cascades on July 5th. The purpose is to procure camping permits for a yearly trip my son, a few of his friends and my best friend from high school take.
At 5:30 am on July 5th there is almost nobody up and moving!
Love having 60+ miles of roads to myself and a well sorted 72 Targa with MFI!

(Holding the drivers door closed would be a bit of a distraction)

Anyone else with suggestions or real life experience??
