G50 shifter bushings

I rebuilt the shifter over the weekend with information on this site. Everything was made easy with pictures, suggestions and time estimates (thank you). It was a nice cheap improvement that cleaned up the shifting and all but eliminated a cold notchy 1-2 shift. I thought I would offer a supplement to other posts. Info I didn't have but thought would be helpful.

1. Shifter knob removal. Delicate to pry off the shifter cap without damaging the leather. Must be slow and careful

2. Finding the rear console screw (toward the rear of the car) was a pain. It was directly under the e-brake and under heavily glued carpet that I had to pry back.

3. Getting the larger bushing into the shifter housing is difficult. I think someone mentioned boiling it to soften which might work. I worked at it with a screwdriver and got it but I was tough on the bushing.

4. Getting the shifter and housing back into the car. I put everything back together and inserted the housing back into the car working it over the shift rod (in the tunnel). Make sure the gap in the bushing is facing down and it was fairly easy to get back in (forcing it a little).
