WUR Cabeling 74CIS

Hi Folks,

I have a problem with the wiring of my 74CIS WUR. Some PO did cut up the harness and cut off the red/white +wire from the WUR and put in a new cable going to the 14pin connector. Ground was refitted by a cable going to the bolt of the WUR.
Since I have cold-start problems I also think it could be the WUR. On ignition it has no Power, and the PIN on the 14 PIN Connector has Power. But as soon as I re-connect the Connector, power at the WUR is gone and the relay clicks (there is only one relay). When I disconnect the Blue wire from Alternator Control Light the WUR gets power on ignition. After I tried cold start with disconnected Blue wire, the engine staqrted immediately. So my question: Does WUR get power only when I crank the engine? And where does the WUR normally gets Ground from? Is theis Ground switched? Maybe I got an easy fix - otherwise I got an appointment in a shop to measure everything.
Any help?

The wur only gets power when the car is running and the alternator is charging. When the alternator starts charging it closes the relay to provide power to the wur.

Thanks for the Info,
so the question is when does the alternator charge - when I crank the engine? It should, because "the parts are moving"
So I`m going to figure out how to test this. Is there an easy way to crank the engine from the engine compartment? So I can see my current tester?

see this diagram

Looks like is should go to fuse#3 in the engine compartment. It has 12VDC when alternator is operating so it should be always active if car is started.

see part number 13.. it goes from Red/whtite at the fuse# 3 in the fusebox (item#80) to the 14 pin connector then changes color to black purple to the wur. The Wur is grounded anywhere it gets a good ground.

I see - so I have to test it while the engine is running cold - I was confused 'cause the 3 had power with ignition on and 14pin disconnected. When connecting 14pin power was gone - so it could work as desired or designed :-)
Thanks for helping!

just make sure it is wired to fuse3

Just make sure is wired as the diagram shows and the heater in the wur will function as designed.
