Headlight Washer Switch

Can anyone tell me if the dash switch for the headlight washer system is spring loaded meaning it returns to the off position after releasing it or is it only on and or off depending on the position. 1980SC model.

It should spring back to original position - press once (while lights are on) & let go

Just to add, I need to hold mine down until it's provided the amount of headlight washing wanted -- once I let it go, it springs back to off. Also, my headlight washer circuit only works if my headlights are on
