Fuel Gauge - Sto.. Sto.. Stopped Working

So Im driving along the other day having a ball, as you do in a 911. Regular gauge watch, especially now with the heat rising (gets over 40 deg C on a bad day) and I see my fuel gauge flicker on and off (between working and not working) with what seemed to be timed with the bumps on the road. Then it completely stopped working.

That looked like a connection problem to me, so today I get into the space under the bonnet to look around. Well I did find why all my globes in the dash arent lighting up but I cant work out why my fuel gauge stopped.

If I measure the resistance between in the circuit, from the fuel tank, up to the gauge and back to the other end at the tank I get about 62 ohms. Is this correct? Does anyone know what I should be looking for?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

(67 car, looks like a later model (white not green decal) fuel gauge

You have to test >>>

1. The sender in the tank.
2. The wires from the gauge to the sender.
3. The gauge.

... Individually ... Otherwise you're just guessing.

If I had to guess I would say it's the wiring from the gauge to the sender.

Were do you live in Adelaide?
I'm at West Lakes. (on the island)

I tested the connectors on the sender in the tank, and all connections have infinite resistance between them. Is this right? I would have thought that it the gauge works off a variable resistance.

Possibly a loose or corroded ground connection.

You should have some resistance in the sender. I've forgotten the colours or combos.
Do you have a Bentley or Haynes?
