problem with low end power
 

hello,

My car seems like it has no low end power..

when I accelerate, there is a huge surge coming at around 3000+RPM, but little before....

any idea what is wrong and how I can fix it?

the fuel mixture seems OK as I am passing emission testing....

Isnt that most 911's?
Mine has the same and it is properly tuned and has webers and a sports exhaust. On the dyno the power curve around 3000 looks like Mt Everest, and again near 5000. Below 3000 and from high 3's to high 4's it is like the nullarbor.
I tend to think of it as excellent for driving. Around town you can put along, but when you are serious you can boot it.

not sure many will understand the Nullarbor reference......just to explain flat area of OZ....very flat very long....!

I think one might be able to offer some suggestions if you wrote what year & model car you have as well as some details such as how many miles are on it. :) :)

First thing I would do (after you tell us what kind of car you're working on) is put a timing light on it. What is the timing at idle, 3000 RPM, and 6000 RPM? This will show whether your advance is working correctly or not. You may have to plug the vacuum lines going to the distributor depending on the car you are working on.
