Hello. I actually looked at a few 968's before I bought my 911. They're very nice cars just no what I was looking for. The water pump/ timing chains need to addressed. There is one other issue that escapes me at the moment. I believe it has something to do with the pinion gear? in the transmission. As suggested definitely check out Rennlist for additional info. The 968 is a fun car to drive, very well balanced and quite a bit of torque. Also a very handsome car IMO. Good luck with everything.

I am sure the 968 is a fairly underrated car. I looked at one before I bought my 911. Call me shallow, but the minute the salesman called it a hairdresser's Porsche, I was done.
For it's day, it had the most powerful four cylinder engine on the road by a good margin and good weight balance. I would take one over a 944 or an automatic 928. They are pretty unique as well. You just have to be confident in your masculinity.

I had a 968 for 4 years. It was a great car. The 968's were the only front engine 4's that were totally built in Stuggart and have something like 86% different parts than a 944. It was fast, handled exceptionally well and was real comfortable. I can't say anything bad about them. Problems - #1 Pinion gear, #2 Camshafts. Why did I sell it? I like vintage Porsches like my 356B and my 67 911's, and didn't have the space and resources to have more than 3 at a time.

I looked at 968's as well and was real close to buying one but never pulled the trigger. This site was real active at the time but I think the person who maintaned it sold his car and bailed on it:
968.net Check out REnnlist and I think there is an active UK site that has good info.

I like the 968 Coupe. Don't care for the rag top too much. I had a 944S with the 16valve engine. Very smooth and fast, very well balanced and comfortable. Most of the problems associated with the 944S were fixed in the 968 as I understand. Hard to believe the 944/968's came from the same lineage as the 911.
Now that I own a 911, I don't think I could ever go back to a water cooled Porsche. I prefer the SC and Carerra. I guess if you "have" to carry two sets of golf clubs......couldn't you do OK with just a 5 wood, a couple wedges and a putter.

Go directly to your nearest independant air/oil cooled Porsche repair facility and have your attitude adjusted. Dump a Carrera for golf clubs? Something must have gone awry.

just an option but take out the passenger seat and you will have plenty of room for your clubs , if your need two sets because your golfing with them either make them sit in the back or drive themselves ...
