Elephant racing blade style rear sway mount

My rear bananas on my 1982 SC dont look exactly like the CAD illustration included in the installation instructions.

The old sway was bolted to the rear banana about 1/3 of the way down. The first pic shows the new sway bar threaded into the old sway bar bolt location...

The second pic shows the new sway bolt kind of lined up and I'm pointing to the camber adjustment bolt. It looks like the new sway is intended to replace the stock camber eccentric bolt and act as the new sway bar bolt location. The instructions also refer to a "camber adjustment/spacer" in the parts list and illustration.

Before I go pulling my camber settings unnecessarily, is anyone able to confirm which is the correct location for the new sway bar bolts.

Cool piece by the way. Looking forward to playing with some settings.

Hi John

You are pointing to the correct bolt in this picture. That is the stock camber eccentric and it is replaced with the eccentric spacer provided in our kit.

You will not lose your camber setting when you remove the stock camber eccentric bolt, provided you don't disturb the two bolts securing the spring plate to the trailing arm.

So this is different to the other swaybars then? As I think all others like Weltmeister, Tarett (similar to yours) connect to the Toe excenter bolt?

You are correct. Different products, different attachment points.

Our rear bladed swaybars attach to the camber eccentric hole in the spring plate.

Hi Chuck,

I am finding a clearance problem, or perhaps I'm not installing them correctly? Here are a few pics. The swingarms are stock 82SC. The blue bolt hits the boss for the stock sway bar bolt.

Thanks for the help.

Looks like you're going to need to cut/grind off the stock mount on the banana arm.

Id like to avoid that. Im curious if simply the same bolt with different spacers would allow me to use that stock sway bolt location?

I'm not sure if this applies to your adjustable sway bar, but I plan to purchase the ER adjustable drop links for an OEM sway bar. I prefer to mount the drop-links to the stock attachment point on the trailing arm instead of the the spring plate, so I exchanged emails with Chuck and he mentioned they carry special fasteners to allow this. I suggest calling ER to see what they recommend.

What did you finally determine was the correct answer to mount these ?
Having the exact same issue on a car.

I just installed a Tarret rear bar. It also comes with hardware to install the drop link to the eccentric. I chose to instead attach it to the correct sb mount on the trailing arm. Per Ira at Tarret, either method is fine. I'm guessing the earlier trailing arms with the "ball and socket" sway bar mount is the reason for the eccentric mount option.

Is there any confirmation that this can also be done with the Elephant Racing adjustable rear bar? I'd prefer not to cut off the stock mounting boss ion my aluminum trailing arms.

Many adjustable rear anti-roll bar products have standard or optional drop links that can be attached to either the spring plate or if the trailing arms are compatible, to the trailing arms.

Pretty sure SRP's El CW did some technical work that suggested that the spring plate choice is better from a pure engineering perspective.

My own experience is that either is fine, as long as you use proper HW.

Rear ARBs are just springs... they can help improve handling whether attached to the plates or the arms.

I reckon that Elephant Racing Products can ensure you have what you need and install it properly.
