1986 911 hesitates when hot????
I have a 1986 911 that hesitates and starts to fall on it's face when it's hotter weather. When it's colder it doesn't do it as much. It seems to do it if I'm in traffic, then I start to go fast on the freeway. Any ideas what it might be????

CHT sensor?
Kidrock: Thanks for the response. I'll have to check that sensor. I believe thats the top white plug, that is one of three?

I'm just guessing, because it's possible there are several issues that can cause your dilemma.
the CHT is the white plug on top. Make sure you have the 3-wire sensor. If you don't have it, go ahead and replace it. The Bentley has a test for the CHT sensor, it's pretty straightforward. You can also disconnect the sensor at the rubber connector between the white plug and the sensor; warm up the car and give her a go to see if this makes a difference in your condition.

Big WHOOPS, I need to retract...I was thinking of the O2 sensor, and not the CHT. I do that, sometimes...apologies

Or coil - cht or coil - if you have the old one pole CHT then change it. If it's a newer one then I'd check the coil

Well guys, I finally got around to changing my single wire cht. Yes, that appears to have been the problem. It hasn't hesitated in 3 days. Thanks for the imput. Kenny Mac
