I do not know about you, but for the valve cover nuts, I tighten them to they are "snug" and turn an extra 1/4 turn. No torque wrench needed. FWIW, for the structural steel they use to make buildings, you never see an iron worker with a torque wrench yet the bolts need to be properly fastened to prevent the building from failing. How do they do this you ask? Simple, the structural engineer tells then to tighten the nut until it is snug and then tells them how much more of a turn to make (known as the "TURN-OF-NUT BOLTING METHOD"). |
