73T - Lightweight Interior Update

Finally got a few more odd jobs completed this morning, so thought I would bring my threads up to date with a single point of reference for those recent changes.

First up, I purchased a clock blanking plate from MS Roadrace in the US off Ebay, and utilising the original rubber sleeve from the clock have fitted as so :-

Next, I fitted a fully refurbished and calibrated tachometer off Ebay, the work having just been done by Speedy Cables. Nothing to see really, but for the record :-

Although I had fitted a 380mm RS wheel, I wanted the wheel to be closer to me, and so purchased a Momo Prototipo with Porsche Horn Push from Andy. Sold on the RS wheel and fitted the Prototipo - straight forward and feels much better placed for comfort and reach.

The Halfords mats have been removed, and the RSL type mats from Southbound fitted - over the carpets for now.

Interior will remain as is until I get the opportunity to complete a repaint of the pedals (no need to fully rebuild though) and to fit the Short Shift Kit I have purchased (need to buy new bushings first though). This will most likely be after the Pre 73 Track Day at Silverstone though.

Ian

Very nice. Is it a hassle to drive a left hand drive car in the UK?

After a year off the road and a complete rebuild of the brakes, suspension and steering, and not to mention the transplant of the 2.7 Carrera engine, I thought I should get some original period correct guages to match.

So thanks, to John Schaefer here on Pelican, I acquired an original 5/73 date stamped Carrera RS 180mph speedo (911.641.506.00) and 'S' 7,200 rpm tacho (911,641.303.01). I removed the speedo glass and trim to give it a good polish on the inside :-)

Freshly installed today and in full working order - note you have to remove the steering wheel and shroud to remove the tacho :-(

Now just awaiting the delivery of the Southbound 73RS door panels to complete the RS look.

Awful photos as taken in the dark when I finished.

That new tacho should match the new engine rather nicely

Looks great Ian.
