Want to Modify my 1980 Weissach NEED ADVICE

I have a pretty nice 1980 Weissach with 60K miles. I love the car but its time to change it up a bit to make it more interesting. I want to possibly raise it. New exhaust. Want to change the wheels. Want to add some cool modifications to the interior. Please help with idea.

Really? A nice Weissach with 60K is a great example of the SC. Have you considered that this car will have some collector interest in the fairly near future?

Given your interests, maybe you should start with a beater and customize it as you like?

Keep us posted.

Welcome to the board. We really need to see some pictures of your car before we can help:D Ok we don't need the pictures before we can help. Just a tradition as we like to see these cars and it will help give us a idea of the condition of the car. There were not a large amount of the Weissach cars made so there is some premium to a very nice example.

Just make changes to the car that can be completely reversed that way you can enjoy it and still keep the value when you go to sell it. All the changes to my 1988 Commemorative Edition car can be undone with minimal work.

You say you want to race the car. What kind of racing are you interested in? Making sure everything is in great mechanical shape before you start racing of any kind.

Again, welcome to the board and a wealth of information for your car.

I agree with this, Larry. Although, it's a tough position to be in to want to customize you P-Car and be stuck in the "wowIthinkIshouldpreserveitItcouldpossiblybeacolle ctable" category.

And that sucks to a guy that is bored with his current settings.

My advise is to live life now,, and let the wealthy restore and sell high dollar collectibles!

Do it up with that Vi Sack, Rsilber! Pull off a "sleeper",,, no one will have a clue!

if its in good condition don't do the un-reversible like the previous stated ...

and it is mandatory to post pics ... one mans 10 is another mans 2 is the theory ...

best of with your new addiction ...

Do you mean raise it up back to stock?

Do what you want as it is your car, but I would suggest making changes that are reversible, like everyone said.

I did the reverseable thing to mine....that lasted about 3 years....then I decided it was my car and I was going to do what made me happy since it was my money that paid for it....and its my money that is doing the modifications....there were way too many of these cars made to be considered collectable.....unless you have one of the 1 in 50 cars of some sort....

Well I got a Weissach too and I can vouch there is some sort of special stigma attach to them. So much of bs that it made me convert my gulf blue '72 911 into a race car rather than the Weissach this past year. That conversion was a mistake and '72 was not competitive either. YMMV.

My Weissach is at the upholstery shop waiting for new leather and headliner. Or I should say hibernating as it has sat there for the past 2 months without any progress. Once that is done, it goes to the glass shop, then back to the mechanics for the rebuilt motor to be installed along with installation of the front bumper/valence. Then back to the paint shop for some final buffing. Very frustrating!
