Porsche Crest New Years Day Drive - SF Bay Area

Hello fellow Bay Area P-Car F(r)iends--

As I recently suggested in another thread, I have decided to take the lead in coordinating a morning drive on 1/1/10, to kick off 2010 in solidarity with our SoCal comrades, who will be gathering @ TRE Motorsports in Van Nuys to start the new year in customary fashion by taking over the roads of LA like a small Porsche army:

New Years Day Drive- Los Angeles

I don't know which folks here in NorCal have had the opportunity to enjoy the SoCal New Year's Day run, but my wife and I have done it several times, and Dave Bouzaglou (TRE Cup) has done a great job of maintaining a tradition. It's time for the NorCal group to start one of our own.

Let's meet on Caņada Road & 92 in San Mateo, which has enough space and also provides a great backdrop for pre-drive photos.

Meeting time: 7.30AM, with a planned departure between 8.00 and 8.15. Plan for a 2-3 hour drive (including the stops for photos).

Here is the final route, as recommended by Charlie:

From start point, south to La Honda Road (Hwy 84), and up to Sky Londa.
Continue on La Honda Road to San Gregorio.
Left on Stage Road to Pescadero.
Left on Pescadero Road, through Loma Mar and on to Alpine Road just before La Honda.
Alpine Road to Skyline.
Left on Skyline, and on to Hwy 92
Right on 92, back to start point (or folks can break away to wherever...)

Let's plan for photo opps at:

1. The starting point, before we leave
2. San Gregorio General Store (it won't be open, but it's a nice place to stop regardless)
3. Stage Road before Pescadero - on the long straightaway amidst those HUGE eucalyptus trees

Refreshments will be provided to early birds, compliments of High Performance House in Redwood City (Rich Bontempi's High Performance House - Redwood City, California).

Some of you have already expressed interest by way of a separate thread. I'd love to get a general headcount by reply to this thread. Keep 'em comin....non P-Cars welcome as well!

Looking forward to it!!

Chris

(p.s. it would be great if a moderator would post this as a "sticky"--thanks)

I'll be there too. Thanks for organizing this Chris.

It will be a great tradition to start, with more than enough fun back roads in the area for a great event.

As long as they aren't the kinds of cars with red and blue flashy lights on top!

Let's do it rain or shine.

Shine is preferred

Sounds awesome. I was on the recent drive that yellowcab organized (but couldn't make, incidentally) and it was awesome. I'm in.

I've spent every Sunday for the last 7 years trying to straighten those curves in the Santa Cruz mountains and I'm not about to give up. Proposed route:

92 to Skyline to 84 to Pescadero Road. Take that to the coast and head up HWY 1. Those who want to peal off can take 84 back or can stay with the group to Half Moon Bay for brunch / coffee whatever.

Just a proposal. Should be a fun time.

Add one more to the headcount for me (most likely, assuming NYE doesn't go too far awry).

Please let us know where are the stops, for some of us who may not make it that early but can possibly meet up at some point in the drive....

Absolutely. We'll do our best to get the course dialed-in well in advance so others can jump in along the way if need be.
