volume air flow unit Gents, can someone advise or show the web site that shows how to adjust the vein inside the air flow unit. I see the Bentley shows how to check and replace the unit as a whole but I remember someone posted how to re-track the vein. Thanks:rolleyes: |

You don't want to adjust the clock spring tension - leave that alone. But you can check and renew the meter by repositioning the wiper arm north to sweep on a new arc. Air Flow Meter (AFM) - from "The 944 Motronic DME" by FR Wilk http://www.clarks-garage.com/pdf-manual/elect-22.pdf |

Thanks Steve, this was the site I was looking for. |

One more question, I guess use a utility knife to open the plastic cover and reseal it using 3m weather stripping adhesive or do you suggest something else? |
|
That should be fine, but you'll likely need something stronger like a flat screwdriver to pry up the cover. You can use some type of clear or black silicone to glue the cover back on. |

i think i would use RTV, the real stuff, not the crap you get at lowes. the 3M stuff may be way to hard to get off next time |

Thanks, and I have plenty of the RTV-red. |
