bursch muffler
Tried installing a bursch muffler I took off a 77 car to install on my SC with bacdated exhaust but the muffler wouldn't clear the left side like it was. To tall I thought it would be an easy install, maybe it had something to do with me doing it my back laying upside down so I installedf the Bischoff I had back on any ideas if the bursch should fit ?

Just put a 1/1 Bursch on my '84. Major PITA to get into place as the valance gets in the way.
Sounds nice though. Throaty and agressive. Not subdued and civilized like the factory banana muffler. Still on the fence about how it looks. Tip sticks out about 6 inches and you can see the muffler from behind the car. Butt dyno says it's an improvement.

I don't understand what you mean by not clearing the left side.
A couple of pics or a better explanation would be helpful so we could assist.

If you used pre 74 exchangers that have the thin flange you will need to have the exhaust outlet from muffler cut and welded to clear bumper. The thin flanges move exhaust closer to the engine and outlet hits the rear bumper.

I never took any picture, but what i was trying to say is that I can get the right side lined up with the exchangers {pre 74} one bolt in place to hold there for me and I couldn't get the left side up high enough into place to line up the flange,it seemed like the muffler was to tall so I gave up, I will try again eventually on a lift.

Pre 74 exchangers have a thin flange. A 80SC had thick flanges. you WLL have to cut the exhaust outlet off and re-weld it at a different angle. I have this exact set up on my 82SC. The muffler will bolt up perfect with thick flange SSIs but with the thin flanges everything is moved up just enough to interfere with bumper.
