Cool Rebuilt 915 - back on the road!

Hey,

Just thought I'd post a few words about my "renewed" 915! I picked the car up yesterday and found that things are much better than before.

However, the 1-2 shift is still kinda stiff. I'm assuming that the synchros just need to loosen up a little. There's a slight clunk everytime I shift, but it is coming from the shifter/linkage area. Perhaps it needs bushes?

I've only done 40-50 miles on it. It was much better when I got it home though, so I'm assuming that the more miles the better. Is there anyone out there who's had experience with shifter clunks? (I bet there is!) I've looked at the Pelican Tech Tips on shifting improvements, but it largely covers the alignment of gear selector etc.

Should the 1-2 shift be as smooth and easy as the 2-3 shift?

I'm assuming it wouldn't be, but I'd like to know what it should be like. I've taken Warren's advise about a slight pause between shifts, and that helps a lot, but it was getting better and better.

Any thoughts on the clunking?

Adam
