Exclamation Changed to Mobil 1, now starting to leak

Just changed to Mobil 1 a few months ago and now have developed leaks at the rear main and between the cam chain cover and the cam carrier assembly. Was using Red Line for 3 years, ok, just too expensive. I switched to Mobil 1 once about 2 1/2 years ago, same thing, started to leak at the rear main, I immediately switched back, leak stopped. Any ideas what to do? I don't want to use any conventional oil unless someone can recommend something comparable to Mobil 1; or maybe add a seal conditioner or stop leak to Mobil 1?

Sorry to hear that you have an oil leak problem. I can say that I use Mobil 1 0W-40 and haven't experienced any leaks. Maybe you have old gaskets? I know I have and due to their age I'm really glad they haven't started to leak....yet...?

I remember a Subaru (not exactly a Porsche, but it is a boxer-type motor!) my wife had several years ago developed leaks after using Mobil 1. At the time, Subaru recommended against using synthetic oil because of numerous similar leakage problems reported to them.

I switched to Mobil 1 this month anticipating an increase in the drip that comes from the chain cover area. I used 15W50 and am happy to report that it actually leaks less. We'll see what the hot weather brings.

My car started to leak after a switch to mobil 1 (nothing major, just a few drops onto the heat exchager). Now, after 2 oil changes with dino it's stopped again.
I don't know exactly why it started to leak, but I'm not going to start putting mobil 1 in again. Why tempt fate?

I once switched from Castrol GTX 20/50 to Mobil 1 in my Porsche, and it started leaking, too.

Switched over from dino to Mobil 1 in my old BMW, and it doesn't leak at all.

Go figure.
