Nee help in Carson City Nevada
Broke an oil line and dumped all my oil.
The Carson City Sheriff towed my 911. The plates did not come up in their computer as "valid"......it looks like the tow yard damaged the line when towing it... see the pic....need some help, I assume a goodf truck shop that specializes in hydraulic lines can repair it. So a shop and someone that has the tools to get the line off..... cell # 805-259-7332 or email me 356@cox.net |

Now in 993 land ...

I would remove the metal crimp portion with tin snips and replace it with a large hose clamp. Also shove the rubber over the metal portion of the line as much as possible. That will fix it. This fix works well on the oil tensioner lines, so I doubt it wouldn't on this bigger line ... if not, EBS is in Reno - you may be able to have them send you a courier with the line, if they have one in stock:
EBS Racing Inc. | 4068 South McCarran Blvd. Unit B | Reno, Nevada 89502 Phone: 775-673-1300 | Toll Free: 1-800-462-3774 | Fax: 775-673-2088 George |

+1 on Mat. He is way more than just a mechanic, as Paul knows. He is an absolute expert and knows all of the resources up in that area, including Don and John at EBS. He is in a new business as Paul states.
He may even know of a resource right in Carson City if that is required. Good Luck and Happy Holidays, Mike

The Oregon DMV missed a VIN number, they input 16 digits instead of 17. When the Carson City Sheriff's ran it, it came back as invalid.
IS THERE any Pelicans here in Carson City????? Or am I gonna be it? Anyone know any Reno or northern Nevada area PCA members that work on their own cars? |

Mike,
Sorry I can't offer more help, but my wrenching is limited to the very basics then writing checks to Mat. I am not aware of any Pelicans in Carson. The local PCA region is the Sierra Nevada Region. Its web site is here: Sierra Nevada Region - Porsche Club of America | It's not just about the cars, it's about the people!. There is a "contact us" link there. Someone there might be able to offer you some help.

I would check in with all of the PCA regions in the area, including in Paul's area in Reno. There are likely great resources there.
I would also most strongly recommend getting acquainted with Reno Rennsport/Mat, even if you do a lot of your own work (like I do). Mat has built all or part of at probably 1-2 dozen track/race cars that are currently pretty active in the Western Nevada/NorCal area, and has at least one customer I know of in Carson City. This includes my race car. Mat has saved my rear end many, many times as I have worked on my car. Saved much time and money. Many of us travel all the way up to Mat from the Bay Area, and we have substantial local resources in terms of Porsche technical expertise. Substantial. Mat also has quite a clientele on the street car side.

With all the accolades he's getting on this thread, I wish Mat would have done the PPI on my car when I had Sporthaus check it out for me several years ago. I felt like I knew more about 930s than that shop.

Sorry, no help but some ?trivia? I used to live in Reno in the late 80's. I was told at that time all Porsches were flown into the US through the Reno airport and distributed to the rest of the U.S. from there. The Reno Porsche headquarters building had a 'Skinned Porsche" hanging on the outside of it, 911 bodywork removed, flattened and hung, I went and took a look at it one time. It is kind of odd that it would be hard to find parts there now.

That's because Reno used to be Porsche's American HQ.
