The correct pronunciation is por-sha.

When i talk to someone that calls a porsche a "por-sha" I make sure to thank them for calling the car its actual name.

I try to say "Por-sha", too...

...but what about these:
Ferrari "Testa-raw-sa" vs. "Testa-row-sa"
Fiat "Ber-toe-nay" vs. "Ber-tone"
Lambo "Coon-tash" vs. "Coon-tach"

And what's the right way to say "Panoz"?

I believe it's "PorschA" to be correct. In the UK people say a mixture of both "Porsh" and "PorschA". We need a German person to be definative! Also, a German friend of mine laughed when I said BMW, she said it's pronounced "BMV", which would figure, but you don't hear people saying that....She also pronounced Mercedes very different too!

I experienced meeting Peter Por-sha and his wife at the 1971 Parade. Far as I'm concerned? How they pronounced their name is proper. It's Por-sha in our accent. 'Nuff said? Or, is it smith or smyth, or schmidt? Not everybody has their name the same as a car. But we all say Ford correctly, don't we? To me, it's a respect for the family thing.

Possers say porsh. Any one who has any respect for the Porsche clan who brought us this superior engineering will say Porsche.
. . .911 works well too.

OK, RUF is 'roof', Porsche is 'por-sha', but I thought BMW was pronounced 'Be-eM-dublu-ve', anybody wanna clear it up?

Or..I once knew a lumber mill owner who bought a Maserati (sp?) Ghilbi. Being a young whippersnapper, a friend of this man's son, I thought I "corrected" him when he did what I thought was a mispronunciation of the name. His response, may God bless his soul; "Paul, I paid cash for that car, I'll call it whatever I feel like." Who can argue with that? I didn't.

Someone with a German friend, get them to say this sentence: "A RUF PORSCHE with polished FUCHS beats a BMW anyday". Let us know...

I say Pors-scha when I'm talking with people who give a damn. Porsch when talking to people who don't know any better (should I really be talking to them?) BMW is pronounced BMV because the letter W is prounounced like a "V" in German. When my parents bought a used Mercedes the German seller (sly bugger) pronounced it Mer-see-das. I'm not sure about that. I know it's not how we usually say it..I think I'll ask my German professor. As for RUF? I believe the correct pronounciation is ROOF. Like the stuff on top of your house.
